Carol and Lorrie, the other members of The Babcocks, also appeared on the Hee Haw show as guests as well as having parts in the network t.v. show Hee Haw Honeys. Joe did the vocal backing for the show with the Nashville Edition as well as arranging the cast songs and the gospel closers.

He was also made a member of the Hee Haw Gospel Quartet when Buck Owens left the show. This quartet was one of the most popular segments of the show and won the Music City Awards "Gospel Group of The Year" for 7 straight years.

Joe also created the Hee Haw Cowboy Quartet and sang the lead in that group as well as doing the arrangements. He created this particular group as a salute to his cowboy heroes such as Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, and the Sons of The Pioneers.
